The Boston Whitehall tender originated in about 1820, around the New York waterfront and takes its name from the nearby Whitehall Street. Commonly built in Boston boat shops of that era, Whitehalls were originally used by runners who would row out to incoming deepwater vessels to accost the crews, pitching the local brothels, ship chandlers, and the like. Because of their grace and beauty, there has been a renewed interest in the Whitehall boats within the last 50 years.
This Boston Whitehall model pulling boat was specially designed & built by the plank on bulkhead method (joining multiple small pieces of wood like Rosewood, Mahogany, Teak and other exotic tropical wood together on the hull). The rowing boat model is built exactly to scale as an original New York or Boston Whitehall was with many details. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish.
The model sits on a wooden stand and is ready to be display. This model is shipped fully assembled. Just the perfect gift for home or office decorator, boat enthusiast or passionate collector. We built our models according to scale through original plans, pictures, and drawings. Only the highest quality wood are used.
