SS Imperator, Hamburg America Line

SS Imperator was an ocean liner built for the Hamburg America Line launched in 1912. At the time of her completion in June 1913, she was the largest passenger ship in the world, surpassing Titanic’s sister ship, RMS Olympic. Upon launch, she surpassed the recently sunk RMS Titanic by 24 ft (7.3 m). She was the first of a trio of successively larger Hamburg America ships that included SS Vaterland and SS Bismarck, built by the line for transatlantic passenger service.

During World War I, the ship remained in port in Hamburg. After the war, she was briefly commissioned into the United States Navy as USS Imperator (ID-4080) and employed as a transport, returning American troops from Europe. Following her U.S. Navy service, Imperator was handed over to Britain’s Cunard Line as part of war reparations, and she sailed as the flagship RMS Berengaria for the final decade of her career.

Now you can get this beautiful SS Imperator model for your home or office. Our master craftsmen handcrafted this nicely detailed model from scratch using historical photographs, drawings, and original plan. In addition, we selected finest woods and material to build this model, using plank-on-frame construction method which is similar to the building of the actual ship. They are built to scale with top quality wood such as rosewood, teak, and mahogany(as applicable).

She has been applied multi-layered paint to match the color of the real ship with highly-detailed such as: laser cut doors and window so you can see thru superstructure, thanks to a hollow hull and hollow superstructure. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. Due to the delicate nature of this model, small parts may become dislodged during shipping adn is not considered defective or cause for return.  This replica is mounted on a solid wood base and ready to display.
